I work with students and families to close foundational gaps, build confidence, and create systems that lead to long-term academic success.

🌱Who I Am

I've spent years inside the world of education — as a student, tutor, a mentor, a coach, and freelance consultant. After moving to the DMV area, what started as private tutoring quickly turned into something bigger: a desire to approach tutoring from a carefully designed and tested structure.

Over time, I saw these consistent needs:

Parents who need a tutor that can support their child’s academic growth beyond simple grade improvement
Students who want to learn how to be independent, capable and confident managing their studies
Tutors and educators who want to feel fully prepared and confident before working with students

MethodK Learning Design was born from that gap. I built this platform to help both students and educators experience what intentional, meaningful learning really looks like.

Academic Foundation

Built a strong foundation in structured learning, academic instruction, and student support—shaping an early understanding of how students learn best.

Engaged in research and scholarship, having been awarded the DoD SMART Scholarship (a competitive STEM award) and continuously use this background to support research on learning strategy & instructional design as well as local education access and community outreach initiatives.

Designed and directed K-12 enrichment & educational programs and professional training programs, refining a systems-based approach to learning, instruction, and performance.

Makayla is recognized for her work in SAT instruction through her role with Magellan Tutoring, where she has supported students in achieving measurable score improvements through structured, high-impact preparation.
