Workshop Difficulty: 🟡
Duration: 1 hour
Overview
This workshop focuses on foundational SAT triangle geometry concepts, visual interpretation, and introductory geometry problem-solving strategy. Students will strengthen their understanding of triangle relationships, angle rules, side relationships, and common SAT geometry patterns while building confidence with diagram interpretation and setup.
This workshop is designed to prepare students for simpler SAT triangle questions and create a strong foundation for more advanced geometry workshops such as the Triangles & Trig Intensive.
What We’ll Work On
Students may work on:
- Triangle vocabulary and notation
- Triangle angle relationships
- Angle sum in triangles
- Introductory side relationships
- Isosceles and equilateral triangle properties
- Introductory right triangle relationships
- Basic Pythagorean Theorem applications
- Recognizing information from diagrams
- Organizing geometric information visually
- Introductory SAT triangle setup and strategy
- Recognizing common SAT geometry wording and patterns
Workshop Format
This is an interactive, scaffolded workshop that combines guided instruction, visual walkthroughs, collaborative discussion, and introductory SAT geometry practice. The workshop prioritizes understanding and interpretation rather than memorizing disconnected formulas alone.
Readiness Guidance
This is a Level 1 workshop designed for students who are newer to SAT geometry or who want stronger foundational support with triangle concepts before moving into more advanced geometry and trigonometry applications.
Students should have basic familiarity with:
- algebraic equations
- geometry vocabulary
- angle basics
Advanced geometry or trigonometry experience is not required prior to attending.
