Workshop Difficulty Level: π‘π‘π‘
Typical Duration: 2 hours
Overview
This intensive workshop focuses on decoding and organizing difficult SAT-style word problems with complex wording, layered relationships, and multi-step setup. Students will practice slowing down, identifying important information, translating dense SAT language into mathematical relationships, and building structured problem-solving approaches before solving.
This workshop emphasizes interpretation, organization, and strategy first β helping students approach advanced SAT questions that may initially feel overwhelming, confusing, or difficult to begin.
Students will work through challenging SAT-style scenarios involving systems of equations, functions, rates, and multi-variable relationships while developing stronger setup and translation skills.
What Weβll Work On
Students may work on:
- Translating complex SAT wording into equations and systems
- Identifying variables, constraints, and hidden relationships
- Organizing difficult multi-step setups
- Function-based SAT word problems
- Difficult systems of equations scenarios
- Distance/rate/time translation and setup
- Multi-variable relationship problems
- Percent, ratio, and proportional reasoning
- Recognizing relevant vs. irrelevant information
- Breaking down dense SAT wording strategically
- Recognizing common SAT wording traps and advanced patterns
- Deciding when to organize with tables, systems, or structured setup
Workshop Format
This is a 2-hour SAT Bootcamp Day intensive focused on advanced interpretation and problem-solving strategy.
The workshop combines:
- guided walkthroughs
- collaborative discussion
- scaffolded setup practice
- independent SAT problem solving
- coached strategy and pacing support
Students will work through difficult SAT-style questions step-by-step while practicing how to organize information before solving. The workshop prioritizes interpretation, structure, and strategic setup over memorization or speed alone.
Readiness Guidance
This is a Level 3 workshop designed for students who are already reasonably comfortable with foundational SAT algebra and standard SAT word problems.
Students will get the most out of this workshop if they are already comfortable with:
- solving linear equations
- working with variables and expressions
- introductory systems of equations
- basic function notation
- standard SAT word problems
- foundational algebraic setup
Students do not need mastery of advanced SAT math topics prior to attending, but this workshop moves quickly through more difficult SAT applications and assumes strong algebra familiarity.
Workshop Level
Level 3 β Advanced Application & Translation
Level 3 workshops focus on more complex SAT problem solving and assume strong familiarity with foundational algebra concepts. These sessions move quickly through multi-step setups, strategy discussion, and advanced application questions.
