Overview
This virtual workshop focuses on helping students recognize logical relationships between ideas and choose SAT transition words that best match the meaning and flow of a sentence or passage.
Students will practice identifying how two clauses or ideas interact before selecting a transition, helping them move beyond memorization and improve accuracy on SAT Reading & Writing transition questions.
The workshop emphasizes understanding relationships first — then using context and logic to confidently eliminate incorrect answers.
What We’ll Work On
Students may work on:
- Identifying relationships between ideas and clauses
- Recognizing common SAT transition categories
- Using context to determine logical flow
- Understanding contrast, continuation, cause/effect, emphasis, and example relationships
- Eliminating incorrect transition choices
- Recognizing tone and meaning shifts
- Improving SAT Reading & Writing accuracy through pattern recognition
Workshop Format
This is a live virtual workshop that combines guided instruction, collaborative discussion, scaffolded practice, and SAT-style application questions. The workshop prioritizes logic and pattern recognition over memorization alone.
Readiness Guidance
This is a Level 1 workshop designed to be approachable for students with a wide range of SAT Reading & Writing experience levels. No advanced grammar knowledge is required prior to attending. Students should simply be comfortable reading complete sentences and identifying general meaning and tone.
